Courses are all currently delivered either online or face to face by Steve Smith.
Steve currently works within Avon Valley Primary Care Network, providing services for the NHS as a Health and Wellbeing Coach. He is responsible for delivering Mindfulness-based interventions for patients living with stress, anxiety and chronic pain conditions.
Steve has worked in both the Private and Public Sector as a Personal Development Coach as well as working for Relate as a Counsellor. Before founding Release he spent several years working as a professional Yacht Skipper and RYA Sailing Instructor.
Steve has trained with Vidyamala Birch, Gary Hennessey and Sona Fricker at Breathworks. He is an Associate Breathworks Living Well Trainer and is is one of the teacher training team at Breathworks. He delivers the Breathworks Mindfulness for Health programme and the Breathworks Mindfulness for Stress programme.
Steve is also a qualified ".b" teacher having completed his teacher training at the Mindfulness in Schools Project with Chris Cullen and Richard Burnett. He has also attended various workshops at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre led by leaders in the field of mindfulness such as Professor Mark Williams and attends teacher led Residential Retreats as well as having studied at Bangor University - Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice where he completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Mindfulness-based Approaches.
Steve's first experience of mindfulness and meditation came over twenty years ago while searching for a "cure" for his own chronic pain condition. Having tried various therapies he re-visited the idea of mindfulness as a way of managing his discomfort while attending a Breathworks course. Following this he went on to train as a Breathworks Trainer and now uses the techniques taught on these programmes on a daily basis to help manage his own pain condition and the stresses and complexity of modern life.
